The people who live in this community are some of the poorest in Phnom Penh, and the area is filled with street children. The area is rife with drug use, prostitution, gambling, and violence, and the streets are lined with trash. Despite this, there is also a lot of hope in this community, and it is, after all, the only home many people who live there have known.
Cambodian Living Arts provides classes, a living wage, and basic medical care to the masters living there, and it provides arts education and intergenerational mentoring for the students there. There are several NGOs in addition to Cambodian Living Arts that operate there as well, providing educational support, job training, and other services which bring skills and opportunity to the striving community.
