Studio CLA’s TV programs, sponsored in part by ANZ Royal Bank, will be broadcast with the release of a new CD produced by Studio CLA, featuring CLA’s most famous master, the traditional wedding singer Mr. Ieng Sithul. Sithul will perform duets with one of CLA’s leading students, Ms. Ouch Savy, who has toured the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Studio CLA recently received $10,000 from Cambodia’s ANZ Royal Bank in order to produce four programs about Khmer traditional performing arts for Cambodian national television. The first, about the rock opera Where Elephants Weep, aired in February 2008. The remaining programs will feature:
•The CLA National Youth Arts Festival;
•The preservation of Khmer large shadow puppetry; and
•CLA masters and students performing traditional and modern love songs.
