Led by <a href=\"https:\/\/kh.diplomatie.gouv.fr\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the French Embassy in Cambodia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifcambodge.com\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Institut fran\u00e7ais du Cambodge<\/a>, the programme connected Cambodian artists with cultural professionals from across Asia and beyond to share experiences, explore new perspectives, and build future collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Cambodian Living Arts (CLA), partnering in Chakto II reflects our belief that artists grow through connection, exchange, and collaboration. Together with the Institut fran\u00e7ais du Cambodge, CLA co-designed the Professional Encounters Programme, bringing together artists, producers, presenters, festival directors, and cultural leaders through discussions, cultural visits, performances, and networking opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-blue-green-darker-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a63b322123e02982247bb2c3bbd2313e is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em><strong>\u201cProfessional encounters are opportunities to build trust, expand perspectives, and strengthen the future of the arts. Arts leaders, producers, festival directors, and cultural organizers from across the Asia-Pacific shared their experiences of discovering new work, supporting artists, and connecting performances with audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although every organisation has its own approach, one message was clear: strong arts ecosystems are created through people. Cultural organisations, producers, presenters, and festivals all play an important role in helping artists develop their work and create opportunities beyond the first performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-plain is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-green-darker-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-25812249640c2d032ad0fe9881b54e02\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.asiatopa.com.au\/stories\/quick-five-with-creative-director-jeff-khan\">Jeff Khan, Creative Director of Asia TOPA<\/a> in Australia, spoke about how the festival connects Australia with the wider Asia-Pacific. Instead of looking inward, Asia TOPA creates opportunities for artists and audiences to discover new perspectives.<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:22px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-green-darker-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cfb077baea9da438211b424e4c5c279b\"><em>For Jeff, meaningful artistic engagement begins with curiosity about a rapidly changing world. <strong>\u201cHow much has the world changed?\u201d<\/strong> he asked, explaining that this question often serves as the starting point for curating festivals and developing international partnerships. It also means creating spaces where artists can meet, learn from mentors, and build professional networks. She described festivals as a space where artists, researchers, and communities come together to ask questions rather than provide answers.<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-green-darker-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-29ac02b5cf72655ab30efcfe2838d755\"><em>&#8220;Festival is not where you show something is right, or something is stronger.\u201d Yoko said. Professional networks, cultural exchange, and mentorship help artists develop new ideas and reach new audiences. That is why we continue to create opportunities where Cambodian artists can meet professionals from across Asia and beyond. Building stronger arts ecosystems means helping people find one another, collaborate, and share opportunities. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-a1c5b3102bbe987baa4431cf864a4873\"><em>She also reminded us that long-term sustainability cannot rely only on international funding.
