CHAKTO PROGRAM

CHAKTO I: CHOREOGRAPHY WRITING PROJECT

This project is part of an ongoing Chakto project supported by Institut français du Cambodge to galvanize the cultural and creative industries in Cambodia. With a specific focus on writing, it aims at benefiting emerging Cambodian talents in four specific cultural sectors (cinema, books, dance and music), in partnership with Anti-Archive, Sipar, Cambodian Living Arts and Kongchak Pictures.

This choreography writing project aims to strengthen Cambodia’s dance community by enhancing choreography writing skills across two different generations of choreographers—senior and emerging/junior.

CHAKTO II: PROFESSIONAL ENCOUNTERS

Following the success of the Chakto program in 2025, which was dedicated to supporting the cultural and creative industries in the fields of film, comics, dance, and music, the French Embassy in Cambodia and the Institut français du Cambodge sought to build on this momentum by dedicating a new edition to the performing arts.

This initiative responds to a strong ambition: to support the development of the Cambodian performing arts, contribute to greater visibility for the Kingdom’s contemporary creative works, and foster the emergence of new regional and international artistic collaborations.

From June 5 to 11, 2026, the Institut français exploring Phnom Penh’s cultural ecosystem. All discussions and performances will be conducted in French, Khmer, and English, with a strong emphasis on intercultural exchange.

This edition is part of the PICC Les Voix de la scène program, organized by the Institut français du Cambodge with the support of the Institut.
